Local doctor spearheading improvements in Baby health
Baby Immunisation succes in Keighley
Local GP partnership Modality AWC have seen remarkable improvements in Childhood immunisation uptake particularly Airedale where rates were historically lower than Wharfedale and Craven.
This work has been led by Dr Zoyah Hussain and has involved a partnership approach with local community organisations to deliver a range of accessible clinics including Community sessions at Airedale Shopping centre.
With support from the Modality AWC vaccination team and nursing teams we have worked closely with community partners to drive up Immunisation rates and create lots of opportunities for families to get their babies and children vaccinated.
We plan to continue this work throughout 2025/26 and drive uptake event further.

Dr Zoyah Hussain wants to improve Immunisation rates in keighley
Dr Zoyah Hussain said.
“In August 2023 following years of low immunisation uptake in the Keighley area and the recurrence of measles outbreak in the U.K. The modality team of GPs and nurses decided to tackle this with an innovate approach, the use of baby wellbeing drop-in clinics.
This was a multi team approach including the support of a wide range of community partners and thus have had the biggest uptake of child immunisation in Airedale in over 20 years and an over 30% increase in uptake in some age groups.
However, there is still work to do and we are sharing our learning across west Yorkshire to help other areas with low uptake.”
